What is a carpenter quotation?
A carpenter quotation is the price you send before you cut a sheet. It names the piece — a wardrobe, a door, a kitchen, or a repair — the board, the finish, and how making charges are counted. “Wardrobe, one number” is not enough when the shutter style changes.
The client should be able to approve it on a phone. WorkQuote puts your business name on that PDF. The rates below are examples, not a city price list.
What should a carpenter quotation include?
Client and site, then a line for the carcass board, a line for shutters or the finish, hardware, and making charges. Say whether the area is the shutter face or the box. Hinges, channels, and handles are easier to explain as a set than buried in the labour rate.
If the client supplies the laminate, write that as excluded. Add a loft, skirting, or door frame as its own line if it is not inside the box. Ask for an advance before you order sheets, and show the balance on handover.
Carpenter pricing methods
Per sq.ft.
Making charges on the shutter face or the box area. Write which one you measured, or the next size will not match this price.
Item-wise
One line per sheet, finish, and hardware set. This is the clearest quotation when the drawing can still change.
Labour + material
Boards at the rate you charge, making as its own line. A laminate-to-veneer upgrade stays visible.
Fixed contract
One price for a defined piece, such as a 7-foot wardrobe in a named spec. List what is outside that price.
Percentage-based
Some shops add a percent on the material bill. Write the percent and what it applies to, instead of hiding it in a round total.
Sample carpenter quotation
| 18mm BWR plywood, carcass | 6 sheets · sample | ₹15,900 |
| 0.8mm laminate, shutters | 4 sheets · sample | ₹5,800 |
| Hinges, channels, handles | 1 set · sample | ₹3,400 |
| Making charges | 42 sq ft · sample | ₹18,900 |
Sample wardrobe. Measure the opening before you copy a sheet count.
How to create a carpenter quotation
1. Start in the browser
Add the carcass, the finish, the hardware, and the making charge as separate lines so a change in size is only a quantity edit.
2. Replace the sample rates
The numbers on this page are examples, not a price list. Type the quantity, unit, and rate you actually charge in your city. Add GST only if this job is taxed.
3. Preview the PDF, then send it
You can build the quotation without an account. Sign in with Google when you want the PDF, a WhatsApp file, or the job saved to your account.
Questions
Do I quote per square foot or per sheet?
Quote material per sheet or per square foot of board, and making per square foot of the finished face. Mixing both into one rate makes the next size change a guess.
Should polish or laminate be included in labour?
Keep the finish as its own line. A client who upgrades from laminate to veneer should see the difference.
What about the loft and the skirting?
Give them their own lines if they are not in the wardrobe box. Extras added verbally are the lines that never get paid.
