What is a painter estimate?
A painter estimate prices the area you will actually paint: putty, primer, paint, and labour. Clients compare a per square foot rate, but that rate hides the coats. Split them once, and the next flat is only a new area.
Quote wall and ceiling area, and say so. A rate “on carpet” that secretly means wall area will not match another painter’s number.
What should a painter estimate include?
Wall area is length times height, minus openings you are not painting, plus ceiling if it is in the job. Fresh putty on an old wall is not the same quantity as a repaint. Write the coat count on the line.
The sample is a modest 2BHK interior: putty, primer, two coats of emulsion, and labour. Exterior texture, enamel on grills, and polish on doors are extra lines. These rupees are not a city rate card.
Painter pricing methods
Per sq.ft. of wall area
Length times height, minus openings, plus ceiling if it is included. Write “wall and ceiling area” on the estimate so carpet area is not assumed.
Coat by coat
Putty, primer, and each coat of paint can be their own lines. A dark-to-light change gets an extra coat in the quantity, not a surprise on site.
Labour + material
Paint and putty at the rate you charge, labour per square foot beside them. The client sees a brand upgrade without a new lump sum.
Repaint vs fresh putty
A repaint is not the same quantity of putty as a bare or damaged wall. Say which job this rate is for.
Exterior and enamel apart
Texture, grill enamel, and door polish do not belong inside an interior emulsion rate. Scaffolding is its own line.
