What is a furniture quotation?

A furniture quotation for modular work is a sheet-and-hardware price: carcass board, shutters, edge, baskets or channels, and making. The client is choosing a finish as much as a size, so those cannot collapse into “kitchen, one number”.

Use this when the job is modular boxes from a drawing. For work built and finished on site, the carpenter quotation is the closer page. The PDF tool is the same.

What should a furniture quotation include?

Start from the running feet, convert to sheets yourself, and show the sheet count. Edge banding, tandem or channel baskets, hinges, and handles each need a line. Installation can be per running foot or one line if the site is a single room.

The sample is an 8-foot base unit with laminate shutters and two baskets. Tall units, a loft, the stone top, and the sink are not in it. Add them or write them as excluded. Measure the site before you order sheets.

Furniture pricing methods

• Per sq.ft. of shutter

  Making on the finished face. Say so, or a taller shutter will be priced like the sample by accident.

• Per running foot

  Useful for a straight kitchen base. Still show the sheet count so the board order can be checked.

• Sheet count

  Carcass and shutter sheets as their own lines, with the thickness and grade named. This is what the mill will cut.

• Labour + material

  Board and laminate at the rate you charge, hardware as a set, making and installation beside them.

• Fixed kitchen

  One price only for a drawing you both have. Stone, sink, loft, and tall units are listed as included or excluded.
